ProgramsOur education programs are built to keep you safe on the road. The video to the right tells the story of Royce McCoy and the Ghost Bikes campaign to honor tragic deaths due to unfortunate encounters with motorists. We at Please BE KIND to Cyclists are committed to stopping the tragedy of losing our loved ones to bicycle crashes. If you’re in an accident or know someone who is, please contact our Victim Relief program for information as to how we can help. Please share your stories in the feedback and help us help each other.
Through our awareness campaigns and programs, we are both directly and indirectly educating cyclists and motorists. We want to change the culture in America, and we work to help drivers recognize that people on bicycle are humans. Please Be Kind to Cyclists wants to remind everyone that this person is someone’s son, daughter, husband, neighbor, or friend. Too often, the person behind the wheel dehumanizes the cyclist and perceives him/her to be a nuisance or an obstacle in their way. We believe that education and awareness are the most effective ways to bring about change and have fewer fatalities on the roads. This is our way of staying proactive while new laws are passed, infrastructure is developed and consequences are formed and enforced. We also recognize the need for education aimed at the cycling community so that bicycles and motorists can share the road and coexist safely. Executive Director and Founder, Al Bastidas, loves to visit schools, corporations or any other organization looking to learn about bicycle safety and hear his personal story. Contact Please Be Kind To Cyclists to schedule a speech or to learn more about any of our programs. |
